Abstract

Islamic education plays a central role in shaping Muslim people who are spiritually, intellectually, and socially balanced. The roots of Islamic educational theory lie in the teachings of the Qur'an and Hadith, which were then developed by Muslim scholars and thinkers from time to time, both classical and modern. This theory emphasizes the importance of balance between religious and worldly knowledge, the development of noble morals, and the development of human potential as a whole. In its historical trajectory, Islamic educational institutions have continued to develop, starting from traditional institutions such as kuttab, pesantren, and madrasah, to becoming Islamic universities that adopt a modern educational approach. These institutions are not only a place for teaching, but also guardians of Islamic values that provide solutions to the challenges of the times. This study aims to explore in depth the nature of Islamic educational theory and trace the dynamics of its institutions throughout history. Through a qualitative descriptive approach based on literature studies, it was found that the collaboration between the concept of education and Islamic institutions has a major role in shaping a generation of Muslims who are intelligent, moral, and able to face changes in the world wisely.
