Abstract

This article aims to examine the role of teachers in the perspective of Surah At-Taubah verse 122 with a focus on two main concepts, namely tafaqquh fid-din (deepening of religious knowledge) and yunziru (giving warnings). This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a library research method on classical interpretations (Ibn Kathir, Al-Qurthubi, and Al-Baghawi), scientific journals, and contemporary Islamic education references. The results of the study indicate that (1) teachers have a strategic position as central figures in intellectual jihad, as important as physical jihad; (2) teachers play a role as yunziru, namely giving moral, spiritual, and social warnings to students and society; (3) in educational practices, teachers shape character through understanding Islamic values, habituating good deeds, being an example (uswah hasanah), and providing learning motivation; (4) teachers also play a role in providing punishments that are educational in nature according to Islamic principles, namely fair, not painful, and aimed at improving behavior; (5) the role of teachers includes cognitive, affective, and spiritual aspects as mu'allim, mu'addib, and motivator in Islamic education. The unique contribution of this study is the strengthening of the position of teachers as heirs of the prophetic task in education based on Qur'anic values, especially Surah At-Taubah verse 122, which is relevant in the context of strengthening character and fostering students' morals in the modern era. This finding strengthens the urgency of teachers as agents of change in fostering a generation that is knowledgeable and has noble morals.
